Fed up with editing

I am back at the coffee shop again trying to motivate lazy brain cells with the promise of caffeine and sugar.  So far the cup is two thirds empty and my brain cells are laying there drying in the sun like seaweed wash onto the shore.  I am so tired of editing. It is even worse when I read over my work, realize something is missing and don't know what it is.  I think I should switch characters in this next chapter but I just don't want to have to write something new to go in between and then have to weave it in to the story.
So instead of just sucking it up and writing anyway I am stamping my little writing feet in a tantrum and ranting here instead.  Sometimes you have to trick your brain into working.  When you've been starring at the screen or the page for forty five minutes to no avail and music and caffeine aren't helping, then sometimes you have to throw up you hands and say "fine we won't work on that".  It is then that the brain reacts like a four year old and starts spitting out ideas as soon as you start on something else.   Yes I use reverse psychology on myself.  But hey, if it is stupid but it works, then it's not stupid.

I cannot believe I'm the one saying this but.. There *is* a such thing as trying too hard, ya know. By that reasoning, you are creating the very writer's block you sought to avoid.

Next week. Ferrets?

Taking breaks every so often is a good idea. Those breaks may stimulate your brain cells.
